INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Thousands lined the downtown Indianapolis streets Friday, March 16 for the 38th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. Temperatures in the 30s couldn't keep festive community members and leaders indoors. Several schools, law enforcement groups, state and city leaders and organizations from around the area walked the parade route, waving and throwing candy and beads to the crowd. High school students from Herron High School donned classical costumes (pictured) and said they were excited to be out in the sun, taking part in the parade.
Dogs, horses with green hooves and people sporting animal costumes or other creatures also took part in the parade. Downtown Indianapolis St. Patrick's festivities continue through Saturday.
