USA Gymnastics Elects New Board Of Directors

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The USA Gymnastics Interim Board of Directors elected a new board during a meeting on Wednesday. According to a release from USA Gymnastics, the new board was put into place at the end of the Interim Board's meeting. USA Gymnastics says each of its five competitive teams chose its two representatives to serve on the new Programs Council.

In January, Patch reported three top executives for USA Gymnastics resigned in the wake of fallout from the Larry Nassar scandal. USA Gymnastics said in a statement that Chairman Paul Parilla, Vice Chairman Jay Binder and Treasurer Bitsy Kelley all resigned, effective Jan. 21. An interim chairperson was be named until the new permanent replacements were chosen.

“We want to thank the Interim Board for their commitment to completing the necessary tasks of streamlining and reconstituting our Board of Directors in a short window of time,” said Kerry Perry, president and CEO of USA Gymnastics, in a release." “We look forward to working with the new Board to transform our organization to keep athlete safety and well-being as our priority and to promote a positive and empowered environment for our athletes and members to thrive and follow their dreams.”

Newly Elected USA Gymnastics Board of Directors:

• Athlete directors: Ivana Hong, women’s gymnastics, 2018-20 Steven Legendre, men’s gymnastics, 2018-19; Dylan Maurer, combined disciplines (rhythmic/acrobatic gymnastics, trampoline and tumbling), 2018-21
• National membership directors: Kittia Carpenter, women’s gymnastics, 2018; Justin Spring, men’s gymnastics, 2018-20; Stefanie Korepin, combined disciplines (rhythmic/acrobatic gymnastics, trampoline and tumbling), 2018-19
• Advisory Council director: Kevin White, 2018-21
• Independent directors: Lois Bingham, 2018-21; Kathryn Carson, 2018; Karen Golz, 2018; Brent Lang, 2018-20; David Rudd, 2018-20; Staci Slaughter, 2018-21; Julie Springwater, 2018-19; Kimberly Till, 2018-19
