GoFundMe Made For Family Of Mother, Twins Killed In I-465 Crash

Police said Koons and her twin daughters were killed in the July 14 crash and 7 were hurt as the investigation into the crash continues.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Friends and family are remembering an Indianapolis woman and her twin girls who were killed after a semi tractor-trailer reportedly slammed into the back of their car while in traffic due to construction on I-465 eastbound near Keystone Sunday. According to Indiana State Police, seven others were injured when five other cars were hit after the truck slammed into the back of Koon's car.

A GoFundMe page was set up Monday by the Northside Twins and Multiples Club, for Alanna Koons, 29, and her 18-month-old twin daughters, June and Ruby Koons.

Koons and her daughters were "tragically taken from their husband, family and friends," the page states. "On behalf of the Koons family, the Northside Twins and Multiples Club, which the family is apart of, created this memorial fund to help the family with expenses they will incur over the coming days, weeks, months. "

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, more than $40,000 of a $50,000 goal had been raised.

According to Indiana State Police, the driver of the semi, 57-year-old Bruce Pollard, of Sturgeon, Missouri, has been arrested and faces three counts of reckless homicide and five counts of criminal recklessness causing injury in the crash that Koons and her twin daughters. The crash closed all eastbound lanes of the interstate for hours.

Emergency crews responded just after 12 p.m. Sunday to reports of a serious multiple vehicle crash on the north side, where one car was on fire and several people were injured, state police said, in a release.

According to the release, emergency responders found the woman and two children unresponsive, before all three were pronounced dead at the scene. Seven other people were taken to area hospitals, and one of those patients was described as very critical.

Police said the preliminary investigation revealed Koons and her two daughters were traveling in the same car, and were the first car to be hit by the semi. According to police, five other cars were then struck, and investigators have determined Pollard was reportedly driving well above the posted speed limit at the time of the crash.

The Marion County Coroner's office responded to the scene and recovered the remains of the three who died.

According to police, the investigation is ongoing. Patch will update this story as new information becomes available.
