Buona Beef Opening Soon In Schererville

SCHERERVILLE, IN - Buona Beef, a popular family-owned fast casual restaurant chain in Chicago and its suburbs, is venturing out of the state for the first time. The business will open its first location outside of Illinois on Tuesday, March 27 in Schererville. Anyone in line right before it opens at 10 a.m. that day will be given a free beef sandwich.

The Schererville location at 324 US 41 (just south of Woodhollow Drive on 41 near Jak's Warehouse) will be the restaurant's 23rd location and first in Northwest Indiana, according to a news release. It will seat 130 and offer outdoor seating in the warmer months.

“This move is the first wave of spreading some Buona Beef love outside of Illinois,” said second-generation owner, Joe Buonavolanto, Jr. “We’re excited to share Chicago’s original Italian beef sandwich with the residents of Schererville – made exactly like it was in 1930’s Chicago, spiced just right and free of additives and preservatives.”

The free beef sandwich for those waiting for its opening isn't the only giveaway Buona has planned in celebration of its expansion to the 219. There will be a total of 1,981 prizes given away at the restaurant on opening day as well as Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31. The 1,981 number represents the year (1981) the Buonavolanto family opened their first location in near west suburban Berwyn.

Prizes to be given away at the Schererville opening include free beef for a year and Buona swag, according to the release.

Buona Beef Schererville will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily with a menu that includes "a blend of old-school Chicago classics," including:

• Chicago-style hot dogs
• Seasonal shakes
• Sandwiches
