Two Gary Teens Shot And Killed In Merrillville: Police

MERRILLVILLE, IN — Police are investigating the shooting deaths of two teens outside an apartment complex in Merrillville. The Northwest Indiana Times reported according to the Lake County Coroner's Office, the victims of the early Sunday shootings in the 3900 block of 77th Plaza are identified as 16-year-old Rickey J. Nelson and 18-year-old Jamar Hines, both from Gary, who were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The (Northwest Indiana) Times reports officers were called to the scene just before 3 a.m. on a report of more than 15 gunshots heard in the area outside the Broadmoor Country Club Apartments, a Lake County Police report said, adding that a Merrillville Police officer reported finding a car with gunshots, where one of the victims was lying on a passenger floorboard and the other lying outside the car.

According to the news report, no arrests have been made.
