Highland Superior Ambulance Employee Receive Highest EMS Honor

Jeffrey Collins, General Manager of Indiana, in Highland, was honored with the Star of Life award in Washington DC on June 12.

ACROSS INDIANA — Four Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Employees, including one from Indiana, were recently presented with the Star of Life award – the highest honor an Emergency Medical Service worker can receive during a ceremony in the nation's capital.

Superior Ambulance reports that On June 12, the American Ambulance Association presented Dane Domagal, Assistant Station Manager in Elmhurst, Illinois, Demel Fountain (Critical Care Paramedic/Station Manager, also in Elmhurst, Jeffrey Collins, General Manager of Indiana, in Highland, and Kenneth Truax, Michigan Operations Manager/Paramedic, in Warren, Mich.

According to a release, Domagal, Fountain, Collins, and Truax joined their fellow Class of 2018 Stars for three days of education and recognition on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, and were joined by Class of 2017 Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Stars Ellen Fleming and Kyle Wolber and VP of Legal and Government Relations Kim Godden.

The group got to tour parts of the White House along with several landmarks, memorials, and monuments. At the Stars of Life banquet, Domagal, Fountain, Collins, and Truax were awarded with medals for their hard work and dedication to helping their communities and the Emergency Medical Service industry.

Superior Ambulance reported their Stars of Life were also afforded the opportunity to meet with members of Congress, and key Congressional aides to discuss legislative issues critical to all Emergency Medical Service professionals.

According to a release, ever since Superior Ambulance was founded in 1959, it's grown to be Chicagoland’s largest provider of Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, and Critical Care Ambulance service including aeromedical rotor wing transport. Superior currently has transportation services in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
