Big Snake Spotted In Tree Along New Palestine Trail

A New Palestine resident shared pictures on her Facebook page of a huge snake she and her daughters spotted while on a walk.

NEW PALESTINE, IN — A Hancock County woman and her daughters made an surprising discovery while walking in their neighborhood nature park. In a Sunday afternoon Facebook post that's since gone viral, Sandi Whitaker posted two photos of a large snake that she and her daughters spotted hanging in a tree along Seifert Creek in New Palestine.

Whitaker took to Facebook to figure out what kind of snake the "lil beauty" was that was hanging in her neighborhood's nature park.

Since Sunday, the post has been shared dozens of times and has received more than 100 comments.

Whitaker posted to her Facebook on Monday with an update that supported several claims mentioned in her original post's comments. The DNR told her the huge snake is simply a harmless ratsnake.
