DePauw Students Protest Recent Events During Jenna Fischer Event
DePauw University student activists protest recent racist bias incidents during Jenna Fischer Event. What the actress said: Report

GREENCASTLE, IN -- A large group of DePauw students put a pause on actress Jenna Ficher's guest lecture Tuesday night at the university's Kresge Auditorium, protesting several recent racial bias incidents on campus. The DePauw Paper reports the students began to protest about 15 minutes into Fischer's Ubben Lecture, displaying a banner that said "We are not safe #DePauwKKK." The news report adds that students stood up and shouted, "I am not safe. We are not safe," as a whistle blew, during the protest that lasted nearly 20 minutes.
Fischer, best known for her role as Pam in the hit series "The Office" was speaking alongside moderator Ken Owen, special advisor to the university's president.
The DePauw says students asked Fischer she she knew the extend of what was happening on campus, including graffiti in two locations, reading, “All n******* must die -KKK” and a swastika on a bathroom door, which are being investigated by public safety officials.

The paper adds that Fischer began to tear up, telling the students she was moved, and said, “Oftentimes justice requires interruption and disruption of our scheduled lives.”
While students held up signs and continued to protest, President Mark McCoy did not speak, according to the news report, but addressed the audience and apologized to the actress once the protesters left.
