Ella Whistler Shot 7 Times In Noblesville Shooting

Family of 13-year-old Noblesville school shooting victim Ella Whistler says teen was shot in face, neck and more on May 25.

NOBLESVILLE, IN — Noblesville West Middle School student Ella Whistler was shot seven times during the May 25 school shooting, WRTV said her family shared Monday. According to a statement from the family, Whistler was shot in the face, neck, hand and upper chest area, and suffered a broken jaw, collapsed lungs, broken clavicle, broken ribs, several broken neck vertebrae, a severed vertebral vein and nerve damage, WRTV reports.

According to the news report, the 13-year-old's family says "Whistler continues to make progress but faces a long road to recovery."

In the statement, which can be read via WRTV, the family said Whistler was airlifted to Riley Hospital following the May 25 shooting, where she underwent emergency, life-saving surgery and will remain for the foreseeable future.

A GoFundMe campaign was created have been created to raise money Whistler's recovery and as of Monday morning had generated nearly $80,000.

A GoFundMe was also created for Jason Seaman, the middle school science teacher and former college football player who's been released from the hospital after being shot in the abdomen, hip and forearm when a student walked into his middle school classroom with two guns and opened fire.

Seaman threw himself into the line of fire, swatting the gun from the shooter's hand.

There is no information on a motive for the shooting and the suspect's name has not been identified as he is a juvenile. Noblesville Police officials say the investigation is ongoing.
