Indiana State Police say more than 1,700 pounds of unused prescription drugs were collected in the state during April 28 take-back event.

ACROSS INDIANA - On Saturday, April 28, the Indiana State Police say they collected more than 1,700 pounds of unused or expired medication during the 15th nationwide “Prescription Drug Take-Back” initiative sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). ISP says the “Take Back” initiative seeks to prevent abuse and theft of prescription drugs in pill or liquid form, as collection sites were set up across Indiana and nationwide with help from local law enforcement for expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs to be turned in for destruction.
ISP says they set up collections sites at every post, except the one at Toll Road, with the Indianapolis post collecting 150 pounds of medications between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
