Noblesville Student's Video Asks 'When Will Enough Be Enough?'

Noblesville HS student Jacob Hoffman's video on Friday's middle school shooting shows emotions from event he 'never thought' would happen.

NOBLESVILLE, IN — A Noblesville High School student is sharing a video he made following Friday's school shooting at Noblesville West Middle School. Jacob Hoffman said a school shooting is something he thought would never happen in his city — but is happening all too often across the country.

In his YouTube video, "Noblesville West Middle School Shooting. When Will Enough Be Enough?" Hoffman recalls a moment during his eighth grade year at Noblesville West Middle School where his teacher was instructing the class on a new school shooting procedure.

"I thought to myself, 'This is Noblesville, there will never be a shooting here.' Three years later there was. My heart goes out to the students and parents that were affected by this tragedy. I wish I could do more than just make a video but I hope this video will spread awareness to help prevent this from happening ever again."

Hoffman said he made the video to help spread awareness and capture the emotions felt on Friday, when a male student shot a teacher and student inside a classroom.

Hoffman encourages viewers to share the video, which ends with the question in the title: When will enough be enough?

The Indiana school shooting came exactly a week after a student opened fire at Santa Fe High School near Houston, killing 10 people and wounding more than a dozen. On Valentine's Day, a former student armed with an assault-style rifle opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 and wounding many more.

Noblesville West Middle School students returned to class Tuesday just four days after a fellow student opened fire inside a classroom on seventh grade teacher Jason Seaman and student Ella Whistler.

A 13-year-old male suspect is in custody following Friday's shootings.

While Seaman and Whistler continue to recover from their injuries, people are supporting them through GoFundMe pages.

On Monday, Seaman thanked Jackson Ramey, who established a GoFundMe that as of Tuesday morning had raised more than $84,000 for the teacher and his family. The GoFundMe established for Ella Whistler has also been successful, raising more than $42,000.

Students and parents said Seaman, despite being shot in the abdomen, hip and forearm, was able to stop the shooting before anyone was killed, swatting a gun from the shooter's hand.
