Noblesville Teacher Who Rushed Gunman Released From Hospital
Jason Seaman, a seventh-grade teacher, was shot three times in his abdomen, hip and forearm trying to protect his students.

NOBLESVILLE, IN — Jason Seaman, the middle school science teacher and former college football player who swatted a gun from the hand of a school shooter Friday has been released from the hospital, according to reports. Seaman threw himself into the line of fire when a student walked into his Noblesville West Middle School classroom with two guns and opened fire.
Seaman, a seventh-grade teacher, was shot three times in his abdomen, hip and forearm trying to protect his students. Seaman confirmed in a statement that he was injured.
"First of all, thank you to the first responders from Noblesville and Fishers for their immediate action and care," he said. "I want to let everyone know that I was injured but am doing great. To all students, you are all wonderful and I thank you for your support. You are the reason I teach."

The teacher was released from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on Saturday after undergoing surgery, according to media reports.
Seaman was a former defensive lineman at Southern Illinois University, according to news reports. He also coached football at the school. Noblesville High School senior Jackson Ramsey has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for Seaman.

"He was the first to intervene with the shooter," the GoFundMe campaign says. "His actions saved the lives of many kids that were present in his class today. He put his life on the line for their protection. The funds will be going to the family for any personal expenses that have incurred due to the event."
The campaign had raised more than $53,000 by Sunday morning.
Student Ella Whistler was also shot multiple times. The 13-year-old girl is in critical but stable condition, her family told media outlets.
