IN State Police: Skeletal Remains Will Go To Indy For Examination

Indiana State Police say human skeletal remains found in Auburn are going to Indianapolis for further study: Report

AUBURN, IN -- Indiana State Police say an autopsy done Monday on human skeletal remains found in Auburn are being sent to Indianapolis after being unable to immediately identify the person, due to heavy decomposing. In a release, ISP officials say the remains were found Saturday afternoon in woods west of C&A Tool Engineering in Auburn. Police say Detective David Poe is investigating the incident, and indicates that between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, the remains were found by someone walking in the wooded area.

In the release, ISP says Monday's autopsy didn't "yield any additional clues for investigators to move forward with.”

While ISP says the Auburn Police Department, the DeKalb County Prosecutor's Office and the DeKalb County Coroner's Office are helping Poe with the investigation, the remains will be sent to a forensic anthropologist in Indianapolis next week for further examination.
