1 Dead After Train Pushes Truck Down Road In Elkhart Co.: Police

Police said cause of crash is under investigation.

ELKHART COUNTY, IN — Police said one person is dead after a train hit a truck near the Elkhart County line Wednesday morning. WSBT reported the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. at the Ash Road crossing as the train pushed the truck nearly a mile down the road into Elkhart County. According to the news report, Lincolnway Road from State Road 19 to Ash Road was blocked, but is now back open.

According to firefighters, it was first reported the truck's driver drove around the train track crossing arm, the news report said.

Police said one person was inside the truck, which caught fire but has been put out, but the train was still stopped early this morning.
