Goshen Armed Robbery Leads To School Lockdowns, Suspect Search

An armed robbery at a Goshen business led to the lockdown of several area schools while police searched for suspect.

GOSHEN, IN — Goshen police officials are investigating an armed robbery that put three Goshen schools on lockdown Tuesday. The Goshen News reports that according to police, a man, armed with a handgun, robbed CommunityWide Federal Credit Union at 925 Lincolnway East around 9:30 a.m. before running out the building's back door.

The Goshen News says police described the suspect as a white man wearing jeans, a gray sweatshirt and a hat with the word “Lancer” on it.

While authorities searched for the suspect, police said nearby Goshen High School, Chandler Elementary School, Parkside Elementary School and the Goshen Community Schools Administration Center were put on "soft lockdowns," the newspaper reports, adding that the lockdowns were lifted a couple hours later.
