Man Dies After '90 Percent' Of Body Burned In South Bend Fire
Officials are investigating a west side house fire after a young man died Tuesday morning.

SOUTH BEND, IN — A young man has died following an early morning house fire on South Bend's west side. WBND reported the victim had burns covering 90 percent of his body, fire officials say, after becoming trapped in the fire that broke out around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday on Bonfield Place in the LaSalle Park neighborhood. The young man was taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment, however family said he has passed away, according to the news report.

Two other people were inside the house when the fire broke out, but were able to escape.
