St. Joseph County is now accepting applications for a new grant program designed to reimburse local restaurants for operational changes they’ve made to do business amid the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes can include switching to new "to-go" boxes, investing in new cleaning/sanitizing products, adding plexiglass, social distancing signage and/or offering new outdoor dining options/furniture to accommodate patrons.

The county, much like the City of South Bend and their IGR program, is partnering with the South Bend Regional Chamber to administer the Innovation Grant program for Restaurants. Locally owned restaurants located in St. Joseph County, but outside the city limits of South Bend and Mishawaka are eligible for $2,000 grants to reimburse expenses they’ve incurred to install plexiglass, pivot to take-out service, or purchase equipment to improve the outdoor dining experience during the pandemic.
