South Bend School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in South Bend is August 16. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The South Bend Community School Corporation has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/14: New Teacher Orientation
• 8/15: First Day for Teachers
• 8/16: First Day for Students
• 8/30: First Day for 3-year-olds at Marquette

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/18: No School for Students (Teacher Record Day)
• 10/19 - 10/20: No School (Fall Break)

November

• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/22: No School for Students (Teacher Record Day)
• 12/25: No School (Winter Recess Begins)

January

• 1/8: Classes Resume
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Day)

February

• 2/19: No School (President’s Day

March

• 3/16: No School for Students (Teacher Record Day)
• 3/30: No School (Good Friday)

April

• 4/2 - 4/6: No School (Spring Recess)
• 4/9: Snow Day #1 (no school for students unless needed for a snow make-up day)

May

• 5/25: Snow Day #2 (no school for students unless needed for a snow make-up day)
• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/5: Last Day for Students
• 6/6: Last Day for Teachers
