Suspect In Custody After Assault Rifle Gunfire In Indiana Town
St. Joseph County Law Enforcement officers respond to reports of more than 20 shots fired in North Liberty.

NORTH LIBERTY, IN — Saint Joseph County Law Enforcement officials say a suspect is in custody and an assault rifle has been retrieved after officers responded to reports of more than 20 shots fired Thursday morning in the 600 block of S. State Street, State Road 23, in North Liberty. Officials say a local school was put on lockdown during the incident, but that has since been lifted.
North Liberty is a small town near South Bend.
There are no immediate reports of any injuries.

Reports that the suspect is armed with an assault rifle and over 20 rounds have been fired.
