INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The 2018 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car has been unveiled - and it's a fast beauty. Indianapolis Motor Speedway Officials unveiled the 2019 Corvette ZR1 Thursday as this year's Indy 500 Pace Car, which will lead drivers to the green flag for the 102nd Running of the race. Sunday, May 27 will be the 15th time a Corvette has served as the official Pace Car since 1978, and the 29th time a Chevrolet has led the field since 1948, IMS officials say.
No other vehicle has served as the Pace Car more times than the Corvette, and the ZR1 is the most powerful and fastest Corvette ever made, officials say.
