Carmel Skating Rink, Christmas Market Open Through Dec. 24

DETAILS: The popular German Christmas tradition and attractions now open in Carmel.

CARMEL, IN — Carmel Christmas festivities are underway, as Carmel's new ice skating attraction and "Christkindlmarkt", located at 10 Center Green opened Nov. 18. Go experience the outdoor ice skating rink, called The Ice at Center Green, and the German Christmas market. All details are posted on Carmel Christkindlmarkt's Facebook event page. According to the page, the Christmas market tradition has been enjoyed since the middle ages in Saxony, Germany, and is now being brought to Carmel.

The Christkindlmarkt runs Wednesday to Sunday through Dec. 24.

Many towns around the world have annual Christkindlmarkts or similar Christmas attractions.

This Season's Holiday Happenings In Zionsville

If you love the Christmas season and the festivities that come with it, you'll be excited to know a German tradition has been brought to Carmel, called the Christkind 2017. According to the website, the Christkind has been chosen, and is a well-known symbol of Christmas in German-speaking countries, and is an angel that delivers Christmas trees and presents to German children on Christmas Eve without being seen.
