Comcast Internet Issues Reported Nationwide

Some Comcast customers with the XFINITY internet service are experiencing service disruptions and Comcast says its teams are continuing to monitor "an external network issue."

"We apologize & appreciate your patience while we work to fix," Comcast wrote on Twitter. The company also said that the issue is affecting customers nationwide.

The website Down Detector, which tracks significant outages, shows that there was a major spike in customers reporting problems with Comcast over the past hour or so.

Down Detector also shows a spike in reported issues across websites like Facebook, Google and Twitter over the same time period. It's unclear if the outages are related in any way.
