Fire Officials Investigating Gas Spill At West Side Gas Station

Wayne Township Fire Dept. Officials and city departments investigate fuel spill at west side gas station: Details

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, IN -- Wayne Township Fire Department officials say crews are estimating that 1500 gallons of gasoline escaped an underground fuel tank at a W. Washington Street gas station. This happened just after 9:20 a.m. Saturday at the Family Express gas station in the 7000 block of W. Washington. Officials say crews are investigating what caused the spill, adding that there was an obvious presence of gas in nearby storm sewers and an odor of gas that spread one block from the gas station.

WTFD officials say a vacuum truck has been collecting fuel from the storm sewer and Indianapolis DPW and Marion County Health have been on scene.
