Paramedic, IMPD Officer Give Severely Abused Dog New Home

An IMPD officer and his wife, a Wayne Township Fire Department paramedic, recently took in a dog that was nearly left for dead on scene.

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, IN — Wayne Township Fire Department officials and community members are celebrating the kind, heroic acts of one of the department's paramedics and an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officer who's story was recently shared on a gofundme page, involving a dog who was left for dead. According to the post, Tim and Tiffany Elliot recently took in a dog (pictured) after Tim discovered the animal during an IMPD shift, as the dog had been shot in the face and doused in bleach.

Tim and his fellow officers took the dog to emergency care where although the post says the animal's odds were quite slim, he was still wagging his tail.

The couple didn't want the pup to die at the hands of his criminal owner, so they took him home as they didn't want him to suffer anymore.

Although they haven't officially named the dog, some are calling him "Winks" for now, as he'll have to have surgery to have his eye removed, according to the gofundme post, which lists the cost of the surgery at $1,600 in addition to another $1,000 at least for medical follow up due to internal damage and infections.

"I can't think of a worthier cause than to help out two HEROs who put their lives on the line every day and who are so compassionate they couldn't let Winks suffer anymore," Stephen Pippen, gofundme page creator, said in the post. "Winks now has a forever home full of love and a 'brother' (Gauge) to help him through this! Please help us help Tim & Tiffany in their journey to give Winks a happy home!"

As of Thursday afternoon, $230 of the $1,500 goal has been raised.
