Red Flag Warning For Wayne Township

WAYNE TOWNSHIP — The Wayne Township Fire Department has issued a Red Flag Warning due to the current warm temperatures, winds and low humidity. WTFD officials say they're asking people not to openly burn materials, in addition to not throw away cigarettes and other smoking materials into inappropriate containers, as Tuesday's weather conditions can start outdoor fires. Doing so can start a small outdoor mulch fire, which can quickly spread to buildings causing serious damage and possible injury, officials say.

WTFD officials tell Patch that thousands of mulch fires happen across the country every year, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage and putting lives in danger.
