This Season's Holiday Happenings In Zionsville

DETAILS: Where and when all the holiday events and attractions kick off in Zionsville, and how to share info. for other festive fun.

ZIONSVILLE, IN — The holiday season comes with busy schedules, several events and sometimes more holly and jolly than you can handle. However, Zionsville Parks and Recreation has released their lineup of holiday happenings in advance, so you can plan and schedule as much festive fun as you and your family and friends can take.

Night Tree - Thursday, Dec. 7:
All are invited to join Zionsville Parks and Recreation in bringing the book, Night Tree by
Eve Bunting, to life. After the story enjoy a nighttime walk to the Zion Nature Center to create edible tree decorations, and decorate a tree for our wilderness friends. The evening will end with sipping hot cocoa and singing some favorite holiday songs. Register at www.zionsvillelibrary.org; 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library & Zion Nature Center

Holiday Card Papermaking - Saturday, Dec. 9:

Find out what's happening in Zionsvillefor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Learn about the history of papermaking and make your own holiday cards using a variety of natural and recycled materials. This event is 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and is $2 a person. Registration is required as space is limited. Register by emailing naturecenter@zionsville-in.gov. Ages six and up.

Nature Ornaments: Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 16 and 17:

Visit the Zion Nature Center to make some nature-inspired ornaments. Perfect for gifts or to decorate your tree and start a new family tradition. 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. both days at Zion Nature Center; $2 per person.

Winter Solstice Campfire - Thursday, Dec. 21 .

December 21 marks the official start of winter and the longest night of the year. Celebrate with an evening stroll under the stars at Zion Nature Center. After the hike you can warm up with a crackling campfire, hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Zion Nature Center.

Noon Year’s Eve - Sunday, Dec. 31:

Zionsville Parks and Recreation says New Year’s Eve is a great time to celebrate all we’ve done and all
we will do in the coming year. However, midnight can come too late for young ones, and sometimes the adults. Join the Zion Nature Center as we have a "Hooting" good time celebrating the New Year a little early from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Zion Nature Center. Your family can raise a toast with some tasty juice, watch a balloon drop at Noon, and party with Nature Center friends during this year’s owl themed celebration. Registration is required as space is limited. Register beginning Dec.1 at naturecenter@zionsvillein.gov.

Winter Break Nature Camp - Wed. Dec. 3:
Looking for something to do this Winter Break? Celebrate the season with activities and games focused on animal adaptations. Explore animal tracks, search for their homes and discover what
it takes to survive winter. Register by December 30 at naturecenter@zionsville-in.gov. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Zion Nature Center. Fee is $20; Ages: 6 – 12 years
