South Bend Airbnb Gets Over $1.28 Mil. During Football Weekends

SOUTH BEND, IN — Airbnb has been making football game weekends even more accessible thanks to flexible rental prices, especially for Notre Dame, as the company announced Wednesday the South Bend Airbnb host community welcomed 7,600 guest arrivals and earned $1.28 million in supplemental income during home football weekends. The company says this helps the city significantly expand lodging capacity. Airbnb adds these totals also show how the host community welcomes in the surge in visitors as hotels reached peak capacity during home game weekends.
This report also includes a projected 880 guest arrivals and $118,000 in income for this weekend's Senior Day game vs. Navy.
The growth of Airbnb home sharing in South Bend has allowed the city to host thousands more visitors and take advantage of the economic opportunity thanks to Notre Dame Football, the company reports.

Airbnb reports the "most dynamic" stretches for the home sharing community came during the weekends of the Georgia and USC games, with the USC game on Oct. 21 marked the largest surge of travelers to South Bend in the history of Airbnb’s platform.
