Body Found In Floyd County - UPDATED

The body was discovered in an area where authorities believed a Grundy Center man had disappeared last month.

FLOYD COUNTY, IA — A body was discovered today in Floyd County within an area where officials earlier had asked for the public's help in looking for a missing Grundy Center man. No identification has yet been made.

The body was discovered about 10 miles south of Charles City. Only three days ago law enforcement officials issued a news release saying they believed foul play was involved in the October disappearance of Michael Bruce Johns, 28. Johns had not been seen since early on Oct. 25 and on Oct. 26 he was reported as a missing person to the Grundy Center Police Department.

During their investigation, officials learned what Johns was wearing and that he was last seen in an area between Greene and Charles City around 6 a.m. Oct. 25. Authorities released a map of the area this week and asked anyone with information about activities during the timeframe of Johns' disappearance to contact them. They also encouraged the public to be vigilant and watch for anything that would indicate a current location for Johns based on the clothing he was believed to be wearing.
