Former Sheriff's Clerk Charged With Theft In Iowa Case
An investigation found at least $4,000 was missing from the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office.

MONTEZUMA, IA — A former clerk in the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office has been charged with theft following the disappearance of at least $4,000, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation announced today. The arrest follows an investigation that began in February.
The sheriff's office began looking into the missing money after the discovery of misappropriated funds at the sheriff’s office. The department requested assistance form the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s Major Crime Unit.
As a result of a joint investigation conducted by the DCI and the Iowa State Auditor’s Office, officials have charged Megan Lynne Strong with second-degree theft. Strong is suspected of taking between $4,000 and $4,500 in cash receipts from the sheriff's office, the DCI said.
