Ames Fire Responds To Residential Structure Fire
The Ames Fire Department reminds all residents to check smoke detectors monthly.

Ames firefighters responded to a structure fire this morning, March 15, at 222 21st St. At approximately 1:41 a.m., Ames firefighters arrived on scene and found heavy smoke and flames through the roof and in the kitchen area of a single-family residence. The fire was reported by a passerby. There were no occupants in the residence when the Fire Department arrived.

Firefighters entered and located the fire in the kitchen and garage area. The fire was quickly extinguished. Smoke and fire damage and other damage in the kitchen area and throughout the entire structure is estimated at approximately $40,000. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
