Ames Offices Closed For Memorial Day On May 31

The Community Center Gym and Municipal Pool will be closed on Monday, May 31.

City Hall, most City departments and divisions, and Ames Public Library will be closed Monday, May 31, in recognition of Memorial Day. Office hours will resume on Tuesday, June 1.

The Community Center Gym and Municipal Pool will be closed on Monday, May 31. Ames/ISU Ice Arena will be open for public skating from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 31. Furman Aquatic Center will be open on Monday, May 31. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for tot time, lap swimming, and water walking. The Resource Recovery Plant, 110 Center Ave., will be closed Monday, May 31.

The Ames Patriotic Council will present a virtual Memorial Day program at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 31. Airforce Lt. Col. Brian Egger, Ret., currently of Austin, Texas, will be the featured speaker. Lt. Col. Egger is a former F-16 pilot and Iowa State University graduate. Mayor John Haila will give the City’s welcome. The program may be viewed at www.facebook.com/AmesPatrioticCouncil/events or www.AmesPatrioticCouncil.org The remarks by Lt. Col. Egger, the Mayor, and the American Legion Commander will be online. The flag raising, taps, and rifle salute will occur at Ames Municipal Cemetery and also be recorded for viewing online.
