Ames Police: Men Stole TV and More From Grand Avenue Home

The Ames men charged with a recent home burglary could spend 10 years in prison if found guilty.

Two Ames men were charged with second-degree burglary after an alleged break-in at a South Grand Avenue home on May 18 in which a flat-screen TV, headphones and other items went missing, according to criminal complaints.

Both Joshua Weatherspoon, 24, and Ladon Williams, 28, were charged with second-degree burglary, breaking and entering, a Class C felony, after an investigation by Ames police.

Residents of a Grand Avenue home told police their home was burglarized on May 18 and that they heard male voices within their apartment, complaints said. The residents discovered a 55-inch TV, Dre Beat Headphones, a brown wallet and $140 in cash missing, according to criminal complaints.

Police searched Weatherspoon's Woodland Street home the following day and a resident there said that Weatherspoon and Williams came to the Woodland Street home shortly after the burglary with the large screen television and Dre Beats Headphones, according to complaints.

The burglary charge is a Class C felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
