Ames Splash Pad Location Meetings Set For March 16
Ames Parks and Recreation Department is holding two virtual public input sessions on Tuesday, March 16.

Ames Parks and Recreation Department is holding two virtual public input sessions on Tuesday, March 16, to present and gather feedback about the location of a new splash pad. The two potential sites are Emma McCarthy Lee Park, 3400 Ross Road, or Daley Park and Greenbelt, 340 Wilder Blvd.

Meetings will be held via Zoom teleconference at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. While the meetings will be nearly identical, the first meeting will focus on the Emma McCarthy Lee site, and the second meeting will consider Daley Park. However, participants may attend whichever meeting works with their schedule.

“When deciding the best location to install this exciting new water feature, we had some limiting criteria including the need for public restrooms, which eliminated many parks from consideration,” Abraham said. “Whenever we explore new park investments, we look carefully at the entire park system to ensure we are being strategic and equitable in our decision-making.”
The Ames Park and Recreation Commission will review comments at its March 25 meeting and may decide a location at that time. Those unable to attend the input meetings may send comments to Parks and Recreation Director Keith Abraham at keith.abraham@cityofames.org
The Parks and Recreation Department manages 38 parks and offers approximately 180 athletic, aquatic, instructional, and wellness programs. Indoor programs are provided year-round at the Community Center, Ames/ISU Ice Arena, and Municipal Pool.
