Food in the Gardens
6 to 8 p.m. Monday Reiman Gardens, 1407 University BLVD.
Chefs and nutrition experts will teach participants how to make healthy dishes using foods grown in the garden.
National Night Out
5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Join Ames police at Brookside Park and get to know your neighbors in this national night focused on crime prevention. Activities include a bike rodeo and tours of police cruisers, fire trucks and ambulances.

The Family Leadership Summit10 a.m. Saturday Stephens Auditorium. Conservative leaders including Donald Trump will participate in a Family Leadership Summit in Ames.
Chef George Formaro11 a.m. Saturday Iowa State Fairgrounds. Formaro will judge the “Kenmore Honored Harvest Time Recipe” Competition.
Back to School Fair6 p.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1403 24th Street. School supplies will be given away during the evening that includes free food, games and prize drawings.
2 p.m. Sunday, Meeker School Grounds. Doug Provow Presenting; Sing-a-Long & History Behind the Songs
The one-room Hoggatt School was built in 1861-1862 for the families of pioneer children before Ames was established.
Live Music at Prairie Moon
3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Prairie Moon Winery & Vineyards, 3801 West 190th Street in Ames. World Port performs. Admittance is $3.
