Family Warns Others After 21-Year-Old Dies of Stroke

The Vortvedt family is warning others that a stroke can happen to people of any age.

A Story City family is warning others that a stroke could happen to anyone - of any age.

This after their daughter, Dayna Mortvedt, died at age 21 of a severe brain stem stroke, according to a report from the KCCI Ames Livelink.

"She didn't feel good, went to the rest room, came back to get in bed and fell short of the bed and was unresponsive from then on," dad Doug Mortvedt told KCCI.

The rate of strokes among young people are rising, KCCI reported citing the CDC. Birth control could be a cause of stroke among young women, according to CDC information.
