Fellows Elementary 4th-Grader, Castle Greene, Earns Iowa Motion Picture Award In Ames Community School District

The 30th Annual Iowa Motion Picture Awards were held on May 22, 2021, in Ottumwa, Iowa, and Fellows Elementary student, Castle Greene, was the youngest person in the field to be nominated for an award.

The Iowa Motion Picture Awards recognize outstanding creative and technical achievement in Iowa’s moving image production industry, in all its forms. Greene, a 4th-grader in Ames, earned an Award of Achievement in the Student Production category with his video titled JoJo, a story about the battle between Castle and his sister’s evil puppet, JoJo. He said JoJo was inspired when his sister would throw her toys at him and JoJo hurt the worst.

In an interview with Greene about selecting this project, he said, “JoJo is like me trying to figure out what I wanted to really do. But it was the thing that had the most views and that. So I put it up. But right now, I’m trying to make grounded videos and videos like that.”

Greene aspires to be a professional YouTuber and is interested in creating a movie-making club in Ames with other students. You can view JoJo on YouTube.
