Forbes Lists Ames Among Best Small Places for Business and Careers

Ames is a land of opportunity, according to Forbes.

The magazine named Ames No. 15 on its list of Best Small Places for Business and Careers. Ames is one of five Iowa communities on the list.

No. 13: Iowa City
No. 14: Dubuque
No. 15: Ames
No. 16: Waterloo
No. 29: Sioux City

Sioux Falls, SD tops the list followed by Fargo, ND; Manhatten, KS; Bismark, ND and College Station, TX make up the top five.

Ames' strongest asset is education, which scored No. 4 overall. Ames is No. 35 in job growth and No. 42 in cost of doing business. 

"Ames hosts one of two national sites for the USDA's Animal and Plant Health and Inspection Service which comprises the National Veterinary Services Laboratories and the Center for Veterinary Biologics," Forbes notes about Ames.
