Fourth of July Activities in Ames
Some Fourth of July events like the parade will take place Thursday in Ames. Fireworks are set for Friday.

While Ames will be missing the usual fireworks show on the Fourth of July, plenty of other festivities will go as planned with a little maneuvering around downtown road construction.
The mayor's free pancake breakfast will be held outside City Hall from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 4 with a Fourth of July Parade & Festival to follow.
The parade route will be slightly changed. See more about that here. But the parade will begin at 11 a.m.

When the parade ends people can stick around and enjoy the Fourth of July Festival on Main and Burnett Streets.
Also Thursday is the Friendship Ark Homes for the annual 5K on the Fourth. The race begins 8 a.m. at Ada Hayden Heritage Park, 5205 Grand Ave. The registration fee is $25. Race day registration is allowed.

And the Ames Municipal Band has planned a Patriotic concert for that evening's free municipal band show at bandshell park. A pre-show concert begins at 7:30 p.m. The band will take the stage at 8 p.m.
Fireworks will take place Friday July 5 in their usual location.
