Furman Aquatic Center Opens On May 29 In Ames

Open swim for all ages will be from 1 to 8 p.m.

Furman Aquatic Center will open for the 2021 season on Saturday, May 29, weather permitting. “After being closed for the entire 2020 season due to the pandemic, we’re excited to reopen this year,” said Jill Burt, Aquatics and Activities Manager. “We have taken enhanced health and safety measures and we ask that everyone follow the posted COVID-19 rules to ensure the well-being of pool guests and staff.”

Hours on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, May 29, 30 and 31, will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for tot time (ages 7 and younger), lap swimming, and water walking. Open swim for all ages will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Weekday hours while school is still in session (June 1 to 4 and June 7 to 10) will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for tot time, lap swimming, and water walking; and 5 to 7 p.m. for open swim.

Beginning June 11, hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for tot time, lap swimming, and water walking. Open swim for all ages will be from 1 to 8 p.m.

Due to the Ames Cyclone Aquatics Club (ACAC) swim meet, Furman Aquatic Center will not be open to the public from 2 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 4; and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6.

Purchase summer season pool passes on or before Wednesday, May 26, to receive a 10 precent early purchase discount. Passes can be purchased by calling 515.239.5350 and using a credit card (MasterCard, Visa, or Discover are accepted) or in person at the Community Center, 515 Clark Ave.
