Hundreds of Workers in Ames Affected by Shutdown
A small group protested the government shutdown on Saturday.

Eleven people protested the government shutdown in a small protest on Saturday saying that hundreds of federal workers in Ames have been affected.
Protester Heather Allen told WHO.TV that about 500 federal workers carry out federal research in Ames. Some of them are the breadwinners of the family.
Protesters met at City Hall and marched to the bandshell.

Allen told the Ames Tribune that the shutdown has ruined her $100,000 research project.
Another furloughed worker told the Tribune that he is using his savings to scrape by, but knows other families aren't so lucky.
