The Ames City Auditorium and Durham Bandshell received a grant of $5,000 from the Iowa Arts Council and the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs at the end of last year as part of the Iowa Arts and Culture Emergency Relief Fund. The award was established to cover unbudgeted expenses due to the coronavirus public health emergency. Part of the grant was used to pay artist fees for the “Muni Band and More” concert series. The remaining funds were used to purchase livestreaming equipment so the facilities could begin offering virtual programming.
