92-Year-Old Iowa Woman Could Be Oldest McDonald's Employee in the World

A British newspaper reported about an 88-year-old North Wales being the world's oldest McDonald's employee, but a central Iowa woman has him beat. 

Sara Dappen was part of the 1938 graduating class at Story City High and the 1942 class at Iowa State University. More recently, the 92-year-old has been working at the Story City McDonald's for the past five years, which could make her the oldest McDonald's employee in the world.

Dappen cleans tables and keeps the place tidy, KCCI reports. Co-workers such as department manager Elizabeth Holmes said with a laugh she expects Dappen to still be working at McDonald's when she is 110. 

Dappen said the job is more interesting than other things she could be doing. 

"I thought it was more interesting to keep walking around here than to be walking up and down the street, and this keeps me from sitting,” Dappen told KCCI.
