Lyle Fedders Named As New Activities Director Of Ames High School

The Ames Community School District is excited to announce Lyle Fedders as the new Activities Director of Ames High School.

The Ames Community School District is excited to announce Lyle Fedders as the new Activities Director of Ames High School. He is currently the Director of Activities and Equity at Des Moines East High School, a position he has held since 2013.

In his current position, Fedders supervises and evaluates extracurricular and co-curricular activities, including high school coaches. He prepares and manages an activities budget, helps coordinate school activities, is responsible for athletic scheduling, and ensures all programs followed district and state policies. He also serves as the liaison to the booster club and maintains the school’s athletic hall of fame. Throughout his time at East High School, Fedders has been active in local, state, and national conferences. In 2019, he was named the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association Central District Athletic Director of the Year and was a finalist for the state recognition.

Fedders obtained his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University, as well as his Masters of Education in K-12 Educational Leadership and Administration. In addition to his athletic director experience, he has also served as a school improvement leader at East High. In that capacity, he oversaw professional learning community (PLC) meetings, implemented building-wide professional development, and assisted with implementing Iowa Assessment testing.
