A 20-year-old Ames man was charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon for allegedly running down a Fareway employee in a parking lot last week.

Police said Justin Anton Weber, 20, struck a car in the downtown Fareway parking lot with a Mazada pickup, drove off and then hit an employee that tried to stop him from leaving.

The employee rolled over the hood of the pickup. Police had no other information on the employee's injuries.

Weber was also charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a serious misdemeanor. The intimidation charge is a Class D felony, which is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Police said the accident happened about 11:49 a.m. and Weber was arrested at his home at about 12:30 p.m.

The Ames Tribune reported that Weber was being held in the Story County Jail on a $5,300 bond.
