Miracle Playground And Field Celebration In Ames Is June 26

The ceremony, which was postponed from last November due to the pandemic, celebrates the completion of the project.

Ames Parks and Recreation Department and The Ames Foundation invite the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Barnes Family Inclusive Playground and Rotary Club of Ames Miracle League Field on Saturday, June 26, at Inis Grove Park, 2500 Duff Ave. Activities will begin at 8:30 a.m. including a petting zoo from Cultivating Hope Farms, a speed-throw competition, caricatures by Tim Read, and refreshments. A Miracle League ball game is scheduled at 9 a.m., and the ribbon-cutting ceremony will follow at 10 a.m.

The ceremony, which was postponed from last November due to the pandemic, celebrates the completion of the project and transfer of ownership from The Ames Foundation to the City of Ames.

“We’re excited to have this opportunity to officially recognize this wonderful community asset. Both the inclusive playground and Miracle League field are the result of tremendous community collaboration facilitated by The Ames Foundation, as well as all the other individuals and organizations who had a role in making this project come to life,” said Keith Abraham, Parks and Recreation Director.

The Parks and Recreation Department manages 38 parks and offers approximately 180 athletic, aquatic, instructional, and wellness programs.
