North Franklin Avenue Closed For Next Stage Of Reconstruction In Ames

All are encouraged to take note of this construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays may occur.

North Franklin Avenue from midblock between West and Woodland streets to Oakland Street will be closed to all traffic beginning Monday, June 7, weather permitting. This closure is necessary to begin the second stage of the reconstruction of North Franklin Avenue from Lincoln Way to Oakland Street. The City of Ames has contracted with Manatts for this project.

This stage of reconstruction will include removal of the existing roadway, followed by placement of new pavement, curb, and gutter from midblock between West and Woodland streets north to Oakland Street. Once work is complete on this section of the street, Franklin Avenue will be closed from Lincoln Way north to Oakland Street for one to two days for the final asphalt surface layer. This stage of reconstruction is expected to be complete within four to five weeks.
