Heavy rains and thunder storms that washed out county roads in hundreds of places in May and June were enough for President Obama to include Story County in a Presidential Disaster Declaration, according to a recent release from the Story County Emergency Management Association.
The declaration will make federal public assistance funds available for emergency work and for the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities. The Iowa Individual Assistance program is also available for individual damages for households earning 200 percent of the poverty threshold. Thats a maximum income of $39,060 for a family of three.
