Police: Iowa Teens Charged With Felonies After Using Pellet Gun to Rob Passenger

A 15-year-old Ames boy and a 17-year-old Boone boy have been with first-degree robbery, which carries up to a 25-year prison sentence.

Two Iowa teenagers used a pellet gun to rob a passenger in their car in Boone last week, the Ames Tribune reports citing information from the Boone Police Department.

A 15-year-old Ames boy and a 17-year-old Boone boy have been charged with first-degree robbery, which are class B felonies that carry up to a 25-year prison sentence. Patch typically does not name minors charged with crimes.

Police say one of the boys "pressed a handgun against the victim's head" after a struggle, according to the Ames Tribune report. They eventually let the victim out of the car and drove away, the Tribune reports citing police. Police later determined the weapon was a pellet gun.

The incident occurred around the 1400 block of Tama Street in Boone on Wednesday.

The Ames boy is being charged as a minor, while the older boy from Boone is being held on $10,000 bond, the Tribune reports.
