Police found Peppels at his mother's home after midnight on May 31 and told him they had a committal order for him, according to complaints. Peppels ran from police and left a black briefcase behind that was eventually turned over to police, complaints said. When police searched the briefcase they found a prescription blend of acetaminophen and hydrocodone ( a pain medication) and a .22 caliber bolt action rifle inside, complaints said. About 11 pills were in the briefcase and the gun's barrel had been sawed off to about 8.5 inches, complaints said.
If Peppels was found guilty of all charges he could spend up to 25 years in prison.
