Rare Coin Found at First National Bank

Anyone who keeps a rare coin in their First National Bank safety deposit box might want to check and see if they still have it.

Ames police are looking for the rightful owner of an expensive coin found on the downtown First National Bank's floor. It was in the room where customers typically check their safety deposit boxes, according to an article in the Ames Tribune.

Police CMDR. Geoff Huff told the Tribune that the coin was in an envelope, under a desk. It was left behind last spring.

People who think the coin belongs to them should be able to give police information about the year and type of the coin and what type of envelope it was contained in as well as something about what was written on the envelope, the article said.
